As I conclude my journey as an undergraduate student and prepare for my next chapter going into graduate school, I reflect on my communication classes and the connections I made throughout each year and the concepts I learned in each class. As someone who has attended college as both a traditional student and distance student, I have been able to relate to the responses from my survey and understand the differences and challenges given.
Communicating effectively helps in collaborating and connecting with peers, professors and classmates and increases the success of that individual. My communication classes have provided me guidance throughout my journey and have given me different theories and skills that I can use not only during graduate school, but also during my professional career and personal life. The skills and techniques that I learned in my Communication Advanced Public Speaking class has given me confidence to speak about any topic. The many methods and research skills I learned in my Communication Research Studies class will be essential when I am working on projects and evaluations at work. The lessons I have learned and the importance of developing these strong communication skills have greatly improved my work and school relationships and have helped make me who I am today – someone who is a confident and an effective communicator.

I am excited to start my next chapter this Summer as a graduate student pursuing my Master of Arts in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership.
