My Research

Using qualitative methods and surveys to gather information for feedback, my research involved surveying eight students asking twelve questions to collect information about their individual distance learning experience.   The information gathered from these interviews was used to answer questions on communication, difficulty, and connection and to determine if the students saw a difference in their learning experience when being a distance student versus in a classroom.  I used concepts around media richness theory that I learned in my communication coursework, along with several sources related to distance learning and communication.

01

I gathered information and data by sending an online survey to current distance students at The University of Alabama who are currently attending Spring 2024 classes COM 499-100, COM 499-352, and COM 499-920

02

By using Qualtrics software, I created a 12-question survey that included 5 multiple-choice, 4 multiple-choice scale and 3 open-ended questions

03

I used a variety of question formats so that I could gather qualitative data from the participants and learn how they communicated differently with their professors and classmates when attending an online class versus attended as a traditional student in a classroom setting
