My Theory
My research is grounded in Richard L. Daft and Robert H. Lengel’s conception of media richness theory that I learned in Communication 352 Business & Professional Communication. During this class, I learned about the different communication styles that leaders use and how different styles in the workplace vary depending on the relationship. Using both media richness theory and adult learning theory, I can look to see if adult learners who are back in school taking classes as distance learners struggle to understand or digest material due to lack of social presence and medium versus if the learner was in a classroom and able to see nonverbal communication ques and verbal ques from their professor and classmates.
